Preperation for Bodywork

Once a vehicle has been media blasted and our metal fabricators have finished any repairs the bare steel needs to be protected from the elements. If left untreated rust can start to set in within a matter of hours given the right conditions.

Bare metal is protected by using either a single stage E coat primer or a 2 part epoxy primer. These primers create a non porous bond with the metal panels and give a good surface for fillers and high build primers to adhere to.

In some instances we use a product called “kephos”. This product allows us to keep a panel in bare metal for an extended period of time and can be particularly useful where an extensive amount of metal fabrication and time is required.
